Sesame Workshop, parent company of Sesame Street, will be releasing its first ever docu-series this month. Through Our Eyes is described by the Workshop as “an intimate and inspiring journey into the lives of American families, from the perspective of children themselves.” Integrative Equine Therapy at Beachwood is featured in HOMEFRONT – one of the series of 4 films scheduled to premiere on HBOMax on July 22nd 2021.
Each of the four 30-minute films addresses a tough topic faced by too many families in our society; incarceration, natural disasters, caring for parents with visible and invisible wounds, and homelessness. Each film is produced by an independent, award winning filmmaker, and captures the perspective of the children facing these very challenging obstacles as they navigate these all-too-common situations daily.
Beachwood Center for Wellbeing is truly honored to be involved in Through Our Eyes – HOMEFRONT the third documentary of the series. This film shares the stories of 3 veteran families and how they navigate the unique hurdles and traumas of having a family member return from war with both visible and invisible wounds.

In the selection interview with film makers, Netsanet Negucci and Kristi Jacobson, 9-year-old Gabby, a client of Beachwood, was asked the question; “What helps you the most?” She quickly responded, “Why the horses of course!” When asked to say more, she replied, “I do horse therapy at Beachwood.” This led film makers to reach out and learn more.
Our clients heal from trauma, grief, anxiety, and depression with Integrative Equine Therapy (IET). We are honored that the Rodriguez family, and Catalyst Films wanted to capture and share IET – a therapy that is helping Veterans, caregivers, parents, and children heal.
The documentary series is set to premier on HBO Max on June 22nd, 2021. Sesame Street workshop is the nonprofit producing this documentary series. They produced Sesame Street as well many successful and award-winning educational programming. Through Our Eyes – HOMEFRONT is directed by Emmy award-winning filmmaker Kristi Jacobson and produced by Netsanet Negussie.
