When Lynne Bryan Phipps designed the protocol for Beachwood’s Integrative Equine Therapy she started with a foundational element – how to connect a human with a horse. From a grounded and connected mindset, we can make better decisions, build better relationships, and experience life more fully.
Since 2016, every Integrative Equine Therapy session has begun with our Grounding Exercise to help humans transition from the whirlwind of their daily stress, anxiety, and even burnout, and experience calm connection with the horses.
Grounding at Beachwood is the opportunity to experience a grounding exercise. We invite you to join with one of Beachwood’s IET’s, and our horses for 30 minutes of calm connection.
Join Lynne Bryan Phipps live on Facebook, or join our Integrative Equine Therapists and Horses in person at one of our centers for the opportunity to re-set, reconnect, and re-energize your day.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a fee for online Facebook live grounding?
No - We offer the online groups with the hope that many who can’t be with us in person can enjoy the opportunity to unplug from the fear and stress that seems to have become the norm in our world today.
Is there a fee for in person Grounding Groups at Centers?
Yes, use the Calendly link to sign up and pay the non-refundable fee.
Can I see the horses at the Centers?
Yes. We are with the horses, outside their paddocks for the Grounding Groups.
We work individually with a horse during Integrative Equine Therapy sessions.
Can I feed the horses apples and carrots?
Thank you so much for thinking of the horses and consider donating to the apples and carrots fund. Beachwood’s horses have individual needs, just like humans; and we carefully manage each of their diets.
I signed up, but my schedule changed, why can’t I get a refund?
Unfortunately, due to the very high administrative cost, we do not issue refunds (no exceptions), so please check your calendar ahead of time, and we hope to see you next time.
Can I bring children?
We strongly recommend that if you want to bring children, you come and experience the Ground Group first without them. Children who are under your direct supervision, and who can participate without interrupting the experience of yourself and others in the Grounding Group (30 mins) are very welcome.
Where is the release form?
Each center has release forms for equine activities. Anyone under 18 will need a release signed by an adult.
Why can’t I take videos and photos?
The intent of Grounding Groups is to help each individual realize the power of the present. Please respect the privacy of the other participants and refrain from photographing and sharing so that everyone can enjoy the experience.
What if I can’t ground, or I discover that grounding is difficult for me?
Noticing that it’s difficult to connect to yourself and connect to the horses is a first step in noticing that you may be experiencing much more anxiety and hyper vigilance than you are aware of. Please talk to one of our Integrative Equine Therapist and see if private sessions are right for you.
Can I schedule an Integrative Equine Therapy sessions afterwards?
Yes, absolutely. Grounding is the first step in the Integrative Equine Therapy Protocol and once we allow ourselves to shift from “fight or flight” and realize we are safe in the moment, we often realize we need more help. With the guidance of Beachwood’s skilled IET’s, and the support of our horses, you can heal. Contact us to learn more.
Can I bring a bigger group? – how do I arrange that?
Please contact [email protected] for friend groups, book clubs, social groups, school groups, work teams, and other groups that want to experience grounding together.
Beachwood also offers customized day-long retreats and other horse experiences that help individuals, groups, and teams connect.
